March 3rd was a very epic day that almost never was...This is how my first mcr headlining show went.
At about 10:00am I woke up. Since we live in Des moines, IA and the weather is not our friend we were stranded in Iowa until they opened the interstate that had been shut for nearly 2 days at that time. I was honestly very frightened that it wouldn't be opened at all that day. By the time we headed out on the 4 hour trek to Lincoln it was 2:00. The car ride was fun I even took some funny vids from inside the van, it was great. We listened to mcr and watched part of Office Space on the way there, the rest of the time we just talked and goofed around. We got halfway between Omaha and Lincoln and we got stuck in a shitty traffic jam and were traveling less then 10mph for at least 20 minutes. So we arrived in Lincoln after a few supposed Gerard sightings by my dear friend Madi..She seriously thought she saw him in a back alley on the way to our hotel, but then again Madi thought she saw her art teacher from school when we checked in and that was definitely not him.So by this time it was nearing six o'clock and we were just checking in..(we stayed in embassy suites btw,and I saw a few people with mcr stuff on including a group of 10-13 year old girls that were pretty adorable) It made me a little sad that we got there so late since I was previously planing on waiting in line by at least noon when I was talking about the show before all the snow and road closings occurred, but at least we got there.
So we got out and put our stuff in the hotel room, changed and headed to the show.

We got there and got in 'line' in wasn't really a line more of a mass conglomeration of people trying to get in as soon as they could. Another random point of interest, we took two separate vans and had two different hotel rooms, one van included: my mom,sister, brother and his friend Andrew. The other was: Madi, her mom, My boyfriend- Josh, Erika and Loren. The hotel room division was the same with the exception of Josh who was in with my family and Andrew. He also was in their van on the way to the show, they left after us (and my mom forgot their tickets in the hotel room and they had to go back actually) so I was attempting to find Josh the whole 20 minutes before Rise Against started, I found him and then the show started. We were in the middle about 5-7 people before the barrier, pretty good seeing as we didn't get in town till 6, also the "line" that didn't really exist helped. It was pretty nuts in there even before the show started and it only got worse I ,for some idiotic and still unknown reason, decided to wear my mcr sweatshirt which proved to be very difficult to move around in while wearing it and to get off, I had to throw it towards the security before Rise Against was even over and almost never found it at the end of mcr. Another point of interest my best friend madi has occasional asthma tacks and was having a large amount of trouble breathing, so near the end of RA she decided to get out. I,being the good best friend and the only one of the two of us with cell phone service in there, got out after her to make sure she was ok and because I couldn't see anyway defeating the purpose of being up front. (maybe it's cause I'm only 5'2) We then tried to find seats but only ones we could find close were actually empty due to the owners being at the concessions getting drinks, and we had to move when they got back about 2 songs later. We ended up finding seats near the top of the section named '5' and spazzed out just as easily as we would of in the mosh pit (without having to worry about not being able to stand or lack being able to breath) there. My other friends I came with stayed up front the entire show and one of them (a pink haired one named Erika was actually at the rail and I could occasionally see her during mcr)

Rise against was very good when I actually got to hear them. I wish I would have not been trying to survive or find a seat through out most of their set. I did get to sing along quite a bit when they played Prayer of the refuge, which was awesome, since that is my favorite song of that album I was very glad they played it. (I kinda wish they would have played Swing Life Away,though)

On to the mcr-ness OMG the show was SO awesome, I've seen them twice before in 2005, both times as an opening band, but this was a totally different experience. It was amazing, they played every song of Black Parade (in order, me and Madi sang every word) I loved Sleep and Mama live and during wttbp and teenagers you could definitely hear the crowd sing along the loudest. They played that portion in full tbp band attire and it also included piro and a cannon during Dead! and Famous Last Words. After a Brief intermission (including the playing of Blood over the PA, to which everyone sang along and clapped/cheered when it was over) they came back (gee in his leather jacket...lol) and played almost every one I wanted to hear off Three Cheers (except To the End *Tear*) The most astonishing part of all this was that they played It's Not A Fashion Statement It's A Deathwish...there is a very long story that involves Madi and I with that song so needless to say we pretty much had a heart attack when they played it. The whole venue got very loud again during I'm Not O.K. (I promise) and Helena (...of course)
I was slightly disappointed that they didn't play any bullets songs though. I would KILL to hear Headfirst for Halos or Demolition Lovers live.
One of the best points of the show was Gerard's rant before Give 'em Hell kid, he talked about how there was a lot of "bullshit written in the press calling us and you guys a sort of emo death cult" (Not precisely verbatim but something to that exstint, if anyone knows exactly what he said, I would be so grateful if you let me know) To which I screamed "Fuck the Daily Mail"
( I know no one around me had any clue what I was talking about, but it felt good to scream it) Then he said " There are three things this band has been telling you all along (Again definitely not verbatim but you get the gist of it):1. be yourself 2.....*is trying to remember what #2 was* 3. Never take any body's fucking shit.
OMG I seriously freaked at that rant. I love when he goes on those type of rants he's always been such an advocate for us, it's incredible.
Anyway fangirl moment over, The show was soo awesome it was so sad to have it end. Afterward I went on a conquest for my long lost sweatshirt and (although it took awhile) actually found it! Then we tried to find our friends that we lost in the mosh and eventually found them as well. We then we merch buying and that was another 20 minute affair then we went out the door, contemplated waiting by the tour buses to try to meet them, madi's mom wasn't up for waiting till 2 for them to maybe come sign stuff.So we left got food from wendy's and went back to the hotel. Where we saw even more cute little (I'm talking not older than 12 maybe) mcr girls with there tbp sweatshirts on and one had a Dead! hoody, like my sister. Oh man It was such a great night..it wasn't over yet though.
Around 1:00 when Madi's mom went to bed, we decided to go to the other room and talk there, where my mom offered to take us back to the venue to see if they had left yet...there was a chance to meet them still if they hadn't . We went down there around 1:20 and there was 4 other people waiting there also we waited in the cold for about an hour and then the buses left, one of the roadies told us mcr left a long time ago, which would make sense, because one of the girls had been waiting since the show was over (but they definitely could of gone out a back door and been gone be for she got out there,since there was so many people trying to get out the front exits at one time) It was still fun even though we didn't get to meet them,it was better than hearing that people did meet them there and we missed out. We went back to the hotel and then went to bed, got up for breakfast in the morning and then headed home around noon.
THIS(was, most definitely) THE BEST DAY EVER!!

Ok this turned into a novel...jeez if you are still reading this, I love you...seriously =)This took forever to write..I might post the above mentioned video, I'm not sure yet, but I will post a pic of us before the show on here later!

I have come to the official realization that my family is fucking nuts...Mind you I've thought this for while but now it's came to a different point. Things you need to know about my family in order for this to make any form of sense:

1) My dad is a perfectionist, has a raging temper, must always be in charge and will never admit when he is wrong.

2) My mom is a overgrown teenager at times, rarely stands up for herself when they are arguing and spends way too much money.

3) My sister, Erin, is a stubborn 14 yr old hothead who always is defending moms decisions even to the point of saying things aren't her fault when they most definitely are.

My brother and I usually say out of their arguments unless they specifically involve us...

So as you may imagine the worst arguments are between my dad and sis, since they both don't know went to let it go. When those two get yelling at each other it quickly goes from the actual cause of the argument to Dad saying something like "It's moms fault you don't respect me..." you get the idea, and then it quickly goes to a topic of how much he hates being married to her and etc. So either we defend her, remain neutral (I usually go with that option, my sis goes with the former) or agree with him. I've had to listen to both sides of the arguments for as long as I remember, and it's very obnoxious, especially when they are telling you to do one action two different ways..(ie: the laundry or dishes)

Anyway my sis has a habit of not doing things dad asks,just because dad asked them and that is always destructive for both party's. and of course that is what happened earlier today. Yet another stupid argument blowing up in their faces and all I could do was stand there and run the water in the sink as loud as it could possibly go and wonder how it could go from a simple request, to them screaming at each other with in a matter of minutes...Anyway, life at the Chance house is never boring..slightly ridiculous and aggravating..but not boring.

So even though no one even reads this I shall continue.Since I have very little social life, all I have to report is that in the past few weeks: I have spent any unimaginable amount of time with the boyfriend,josh,although I like him greatly spending aprox. 60 out of 72 hours with him can feel like overkill.Me and my friend(madi)also went to a matchbook romance concert it was surprisingly pretty good I'm not a very big fan of them but she needed someone to go with her.The concert also had 2 other bands lorieta drive(I think it was something like that) and nightmare of you. I really liked that band and didn't know that they were playing that night, so that was a pleasant suprise.Also there was quite possibly the coolest 11 year old ever, she had on a My chem.shirt and we talked to her for a while before madi asked how old she was everyone probably thought she was 14 or 15 it was wonderfuly amusing. ~TTyl,Jessie
